UPDATED MEASURES to MINIMISE an OUTBREAK of COVID-19

On Monday 17 August 2020, the Department of Education (DoE) provided schools with new updates on keeping students safe during COVID-19. Some of these changes will impact on planned whole school events and in particular affect our Year 12 students. The aim of DoE, is to keep our students in their own 'bubble' to prevent any spread of an illness if it were to occur in the school, and in particular to look after our Year 12 students who have had an extremely disruptive final year and have their HSC to complete early next term.

The following is a summary of changes:

  • Our Tri-challenge, which has been operating in the school since 1992 has been cancelled. This is only the second time in the school's history, that it has been cancelled.
  • Formal assemblies cannot take place with parents or visitors. This includes our Leadership Assembly and our Year 12 Farewell Assembly.
  • Year 12 Formals plans are on hold but are not to take place prior to the HSC exams.
  • Interschool visits (sport, debating, workshops) have been cancelled.
  • We will try to keep year groups, or at least stage groups together during break times and sport.
  • Singing groups and wind instrument groups are no longer permitted.
  • Year 6 into 7 Transition program is on hold.

Another change is that students who are not well should be kept at home. Staff and students with flu-like symptoms who attend school will be sent home. They are not to return to school until they have a negative COVID-19 test and are symptom free. A copy of the negative COVID-19 test result must be sighted and received by the school for both students and staff members before being permitted to return to school.
